Fire Incident.After a series of working sessions in Garoua and Ngaoundere, the Minister of Territorial Administration on May 11, 2025, once more assessed the state of the road linking the two towns and noted the level of rehabilitation required and the difficulties of drivers. As he continued on a drive along the road, the MINAT Boss stopped at the National Veterinary Laboratory (LANAVET) in Garoua III Subdivision, where he was welcomed by the Governor of the North Region,D.O., and the Director of the Laboratory, Dr Abel Wade.While at the lab, the minister inspected the damages on a steam generator that were caused by a fire incident on April 4, 2025. According to the director of LANAVET, thefire destroyed the steam generator of the lab, which has halted the production and exportation of vaccines within the West and Central African Region. Those affected include Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Benin, Togo,Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast.Ghana, Nigeria and the Central African Republic. After evaluating the damage,Minister Atanga Nji noted that his on-the-ground observation of the situation gives him a better understanding. On hand was the MINAT’s Director of Civil Protection.
